Scottie Scheffler erased a five-shot final round deficit behind a bogey-free 64 to become the first repeat winner in the 50-year history of THE PLAYERS. Scheffler’s magical round with Qi10 driver and Spider Tour X putter tied the largest final round comeback in PLAYERS history.

The win comes one week after Scheffler’s second title at Bay Hill. In the two wins, Scheffler went a combined 35-under par.

Take a look at these mind-blowing stats:

  • First repeat champion in the 50-year history of THE PLAYERS
  • Ties largest final round comeback to win in PLAYERS history (5 shots)
  • Ties lowest final round (64) by a PLAYERS Champion
  • Best score to par (-20) by a defending PLAYERS Champion by 10 shots
  • First player to win THE PLAYERS the week after winning another PGA TOUR event since 2001 (Tiger Woods)
  • First player to successfully defend any other PGA TOUR title the week after winning a tournament since 2007 (Tiger Woods)
  • His bogey free last 31 holes is the longest streak to end a PLAYERS Championship victory
  • Eighth PGA TOUR win in last three seasons is three more than any other player in that span

It was another clinic of golf put on by Scottie, who as the stats above told us, is truly creeping into Tiger territory in terms of statistical and win dominance.

Scheffler finished the week ranked 1st in Strokes Gained: Total (17.126), 1st in SG: Off the Tee (6.429), and T1 in Driving Accuracy hitting 80.36% of fairways. He was also Top 10 in Greens in Regulation (T3), SG: Around the Green (6th), SG: Approach the Green (7th), Scrambling (8th) and Sand Saves (T10).

In the final round, Scheffler finished T1 in SG: Total (7.096), T1 in Driving Accuracy (12-14), T1 in Scrambling (4-4), 2nd in SG: Off the Tee (2.576), 5th in SG: Approach to Green (2.985), T5 Putts per GIR (1.50), T7 Total Putts (25) and T7 Greens in Regulation (14-18).

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Despite being just one day removed from winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Scottie went back to work right away at TPC Sawgrass ahead of THE PLAYERS to reset both mentally and physically. Scheffler worked hard in practice rounds this week at TPC Sawgrass with TaylorMade Tour Rep Adrian Rietveld to reset after the thrilling win at Bay Hill and fully dial in yardages and ball speeds.

He practiced producing shots off the tee with various trajectories ranging from an apex of 118-feet all the way down to 67-feet. Scheffler’s Qi10 8.0° driver is set up to give him full confidence to hit his patented fade off the tee and eliminate the left side of the golf course.

His three different on course shots with driver are based on hole set up and wind direction with featured numbers of:

HIGH TEE SHOT
  • Apex: 118-feet
  • Launch Angle: 11.5°
  • Ball Speed: 177.1 MPH
  • Spin Rate: 2373 RPM
  • Carry: 305-yards
STOCK TEE SHOT
  • Apex: 92-feet
  • Launch Angle: 9.1°
  • Ball Speed: 175.5 MPH
  • Spin Rate: 2342 RPM
  • Carry: 295-yards
LOW TEE SHOT
  • Apex: 67-feet
  • Launch Angle: 6.0°
  • Ball Speed: 176.6 MPH
  • Spin Rate: 2512
  • Carry: 283-yards

That work paid off to perfection in the final round as Scottie found the fairway on each of his last eight tee shots, including driving the green on 12:

SCOTTIE + SPIDER TOUR X = WINS

Scheffler now has played his Spider Tour X in a total of two starts and has won both. In a press conference earlier in the week, Scheffler said that in the past he had struggled with lining up the ball in the middle of the face and the Spider Tour X has made his alignment simpler. His Spider Tour X features True Path alignment and a full sight line.

“This Spider putter is really easy for me to line up. I don’t have to use the line on the ball. I line the putter up really well, and I line up in the middle of the face, and pretty much as simple as that. Kind of gives me just a really good visual.”

Rory Mc Ilroy Qi10 Driver Dubai

Rory McIlroy + Dubai = Trophies. It’s as simple as that.

McIlroy captured his fourth Dubai Desert Classic title on Sunday with his Qi10 9.0° driver headlining four new clubs and a new TP5x golf ball in the bag for 2024.

Rory averaged 329.6 yards off the tee, with TEN drives over 340 yards this week (including five over 350!). He also played the Par-5s in 10-under for the week. Ya…that’ll do Rors.

After entering the weekend 10-shots back of the lead, Rory’s vintage Saturday 63 propelled him into the final group on Sunday. He put his stamp on the final round early by delivering a 355-yard drive on the Par 4 second hole with his Qi10 driver that landed on the green and finished 30-feet from the pin before two putting for birdie.

Rory then holed a 32-foot putt for birdie on the 8th hole and a 16-foot birdie putt on the 9th with his new Spider Tour X putter to lead by three strokes at the turn. After battling difficult conditions on the back nine, Rory remained steady down the stretch making par at the last to seal the one-shot victory.

Rory Mc Ilroy Wins Hero Duabi Desert Classic

“It’s big. Getting a win early in the year is always important. I think it really can sort of act as a nice springboard into the rest of the year. I knew my game was in good shape, and I think getting the win just sort of validates that you’re on the right path and you’re doing the right things. Hopefully I’ll take the learnings from this week into the next few weeks and building up to the major season.”

A WINNING COMBO: QI10 DRIVER AND NEW TP5X GOLF BALL

Rory moved into the Qi10 head as he prefers the look and feel of the slightly larger head when compared to the LS model. With his set up at one click lower on the loft sleeve and adding an inch of length back to his shaft, the Qi10 head launches higher with a lower peak height. Rory saw tighter spin rates overall and more consistent results on mishits with the forgiving Qi10 head.

Coupling that with his new 2024 TP5x, the TaylorMade Tour team and Rory quickly found a winning formula.

Rory Mc Ilroy TP5x Golf Ball Dubai

In testing the 2024 TP5x, Rory gained considerable distance with his irons and ball speed with his driver. Overall, the ball produced that flatter and lower peak trajectory with driver and a softer feel with more spin around the greens with his Milled Grind 4 wedges.

Rory also added a Qi10 3-wood and 5-wood to the bag at the start of the year. Similar to driver, Rory saw optimal spin numbers with the steel fairway woods that are larger and more forgiving heads compared to titanium fairway woods he had played in the past. Forgiveness, even the best players in the world are looking for it!

THE SPIDER TOUR X ORIGIN STORY

Rory Spider Tour X Putter Dubai

The origin story of Rory’s new Spider Tour putter begins at the 2023 BMW Championship at Olympia Fields. This was a week where the TaylorMade Tour team began to test the new Spider Tour putter line to players in the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Rory had his first look at the putters on the driving range the morning before the pro-am. The TaylorMade tour team presented him with three identical putters, but knowing that the way the putter sits to his eye is the most important characteristic to Rory, each putter had a slightly different face angle at address.

He looked at each putter and gravitated toward the putter that suited his eye best. This Spider Tour X has a slightly shallower face combined with the face angle spec from his previous Spider X gamer. That spec that our Tour team drew up was exactly what Rory was looking for and the proof is in the pudding as it produced a victory in his second start with the putter in his bag.

DOMINATION IN DUBAI

Rory Mc Ilroy Dubai Desert Classic Trophy

Rory’s success in Dubai is otherworldly. Take a look at these stats.

  • 25 starts
  • Six wins
  • 11 Top 3 finishes
  • 22 Top 10 finishes
  • 68.4 average score
  • 88 rounds under par

Here’s what the champ had to say about why he’s so comfortable in Dubai.

“The arc of my career and Dubai have sort of tracked each other pretty consistently along the way. Just to think like 18 years ago, and what it meant to come here and play in this event, to be sitting here having won it four times, and all the great experiences that I’ve had in Dubai…it’s always been a place where I come back to and reminisce about my career because I really feel like it’s where everything started.”

Tommy Fleetwood grabbed his seventh DP Tour victory at the Dubai Invitational, marking the first professional win for the new Qi10 driver. In a Team TaylorMade duel, Tommy narrowly edged out Rory McIlroy for the victory.

“It’s always very special when you play with one of your friends, one of the best players in the world, challenging yourself against those guys. Rory’s been a very, very supportive influence on me over the past. … I’ve watched him do amazing things down the stretch in golf tournaments, and today was my turn.”

TOMMY FLEETWOOD

Fleetwood vaulted himself into contention after a blazing third round 63 and set up the riveting “Fleetwood Mac” final round showdown. Tommy turned in back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to claim the victory.

He drove the ball on a string all week with his new Qi10 LS, averaging 313 yards off the tee and hitting 57% of the fairways.

“The biggest gains for Tommy with the Qi10 comes with really tight spin rates, especially on misses,” says Adrian Rietveld, TaylorMade Senior Tour Rep. “On misses, Tommy would normally get 3100-3200 spin, on this one he’s getting 2700, which is huge for him because it means the distance is there. He’s still getting a little bit of roll out of it.

“On the flush shots, he’s gone from 10.5 or 11° launch at 2,600 spin, to now at 12° launch at 2,400 spin. When you add that up, that’s a real game changer for him.”

HEAD’s long-standing fruitful partnership with Novak Djokovic has led to a new benchmark in tennis history, with Djokovic’s 23rd French Open title.

The 36-year-old Serb beats Norway’s Casper Ruud in three/four/five sets in Sunday’s final at Roland-Garros, Paris, to edge one ahead in the all-time list of men’s Grand Slam champions.

Djokovic, who first worked with the Austria-based racquet brand during his junior days, now has 23 major singles titles. That compares with Rafael Nadal’s 22, Roger Federer’s 20 and Pete Sampras’s 14. Djokovic is now level with Serena Williams and just one short of Margaret Court’s record of 24 singles titles set in the 1960s and 70s when not all the top players travelled to all the Grand Slam tournaments. For years it was thought Court’s record would never be beaten, certainly not by a male player.

“Novak never ceases to amaze us,” said Ottmar Barbian, executive vice-president of HEAD’s racquet sports division, “and we are pleased that he has achieved this landmark at Roland-Garros. It’s also a massive accomplishment for the range of Speed racquets that Novak endorses, and everyone at HEAD is proud of this feat and our phenomenal partnership with him.”

Sunday’s title is Djokovic’s third at Roland-Garros, where he is the only man to beat Nadal twice and one of just two men to beat him at all on the Parisian clay. The Australian Open is the Serb’s most successful major as he has won it 10 times, alongside seven Wimbledons and three US Opens. He could make more history at Wimbledon next month by becoming the most successful champion there and equalling Margaret Court’s record.

Following the Serb’s historic triumph in Paris, he returns to the number one spot for a record 388th week amassed in several spells dating back to July 2011. It leaves him just 12 weeks away from becoming the first man or woman to be ranked number one for an astonishing 400 weeks.

Djokovic has played most of his career endorsing racquets from the Speed range. He played with HEAD as a junior and has won all but one of his major titles with a HEAD in his hand.

When we kicked off the Carbonwood Age with the original Stealth driver, we promised golfers that it was only the beginning. Carbon-faced drivers offered a new starting line with a long runway for design and performance improvements.

We jumped out to a fast start, with Tour pros and amateurs alike experiencing ball speed gains with Stealth, and in 2023 we’re now entering the second leg of this race with a leg up on the field.

To put it simply, the family of drivers, which includes Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2 and Stealth HD, utilizes more carbon than any design in TaylorMade history. Stealth 2 has nearly double the amount of carbon compared to the original, while Stealth 2 Plus features 75% more carbon usage.

We went so far with this design that we had to devise a new word to describe the performance – FARGIVENESS. (Insert smirking face emoji.) Given the “FARGIVNESS” moniker, you may have guessed that the primary focus across the entire lineup is increased forgiveness, which we achieved through a modified face construction and a new body configuration.

Before we break down the difference between the three models and help you select the best Stealth 2 driver for your game, let’s look at each driver’s commonalities.

NEW 60X CARBON TWIST FACE

Each Stealth 2 model features an enhanced version of 60X Carbon Twist Face – a revolutionary face design that led to better energy transfer at impact for boosted ball speeds. We’ve redesigned this year’s face to be even more efficient and forgiving by making it lighter – it weighs in at 24g, which is 2g less than the original.

The new 60X Carbon Twist Face is lighter than the previous gen, translating to a better and more efficient energy transfer at impact.
The new 60X Carbon Twist Face is lighter than the previous gen, translating to a better and more efficient energy transfer at impact.

We also lightened it where it matters most for golfers, around the perimeter of the face. While the center of the face has gotten slightly thicker, it’s strategically thinner on the perimeter to spread ball speed across the face for more forgiveness and better performance on off-center hits.

From a top level, the science works like this: Because carbon is lighter (and less dense) than steel or titanium, golf balls encounter less resistance at impact and retain more energy for faster ball speeds. By making the new carbon face even lighter, we’re adding to the performance gains by reducing the material resistance at impact.

THE RING RETURNS,
BETTER THAN EVER

TaylorMade’s patented ring construction debuted in SIM2 – it’s back again, but with a twist. The OG was made from lightweight aluminum. With Stealth 2, we crafted the ring from a carbon composite material to make it even lighter. The benefit? More significant weight savings, so we can strategically reposition more mass to enhance forgiveness in this 2nd gen Stealth driver.

TM23 CWD Stealth 2 Plus Driver LYD OSN 0167 Portrait v1
The Carbon Composite Ring is visible from address in the Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 HD models.

While the ring serves the same performance purpose on each model – uniting the driver into a singular force while allowing for the full-body carbon construction – there’s also a strategic aesthetic difference. The top of the ring on Stealth 2 Plus is black and creates a sleek monochromatic view at address that better players often prefer. On Stealth 2, the ring has a red highlight around the top of the crown for a slightly larger address appearance and easier alignment. Each model offers exceptional forgiveness and a stylish design that will make them stand out in any golfer’s bag.

NEW AESTHETICS

This year we’ve altered the look of the Stealth 2 family to have a premium high-gloss crown. This delivers a luxury aesthetic and helps create additional contrast with the red face. For those who still prefer the matte satin crown, the option is available through MyStealth 2 Plus.

From address, you’ll also notice a slightly straighter top line and matte front crown design that helps reduce reflection and improve focus when addressing the ball. The contrast between the matte front and high-gloss carbon crown adds a touch of sophistication to the club’s appearance. And the face? It’s red (of course) but with a few subtle updates, including a more tonal coloration.

Beyond the new 60X Carbon Twist Face and carbon composite ring, several legacy technologies power the entire Stealth 2 Carbonwood family. Those are listed and defined below:

NANOTEXTURE COVER
A polyurethane material forms the nanotexture cover and coats the entire face to optimize launch properties, rain or shine. It creates the face texture needed to produce the ideal amount of friction at impact.

ASYMMETRIC INERTIA GENERATOR
The Asymmetric Inertia Generator produced the revolutionary shape that inspired the entire SIM driver lineup, and it remains the foundational source of refined aerodynamic properties with Stealth 2. It results in a slippery-fast head shape that aids in swing speed generation at the most critical phase of the downswing – just before impact. It also has the added benefit of enhanced forgiveness due to extra weight positioned low and back.

THRU-SLOT SPEED POCKET
The Speed Pocket™ is a timeless TaylorMade technology. It’s evolved over the years into our most flexible design, engineered to maximize ball speeds and produce additional forgiveness on low-face strikes.

PREMIUM SOUND
We knew that sound would be a big question mark for many golfers. That’s why our team of engineers obsessed over creating the perfect pitch with Stealth 2. They used a combination of curvature, shape, and internal stiffening ribs to finely tune acoustics, delivering a sound profile that is both bright and powerful to match TaylorMade drivers through recent years.

Now, let’s get into the characteristics that make each Stealth 2 model unique.

STEALTH 2 PLUS

The biggest point of differentiation for Stealth 2 Plus is a 15g sliding weight positioned along the sole, which allows you to customize performance based on your swing and desired shot shape. The FCT Loft Sleeve is used to further optimize launch and trajectory. It is the lowest-spinning model in the family. Still, it features exceptional forgiveness thanks to the new Carbon Reinforced Composite Ring, increased material usage of carbon and a 15g rear weight. In fact, it boasts a 9 percent MOI increase compared to the original Stealth Plus.

TM23 CWD TA101 Stealth 2 Plus LFS OSN 09800 v1

MOI increases as you move through the models, each delivering progressively higher spin and launch as you move from Stealth 2 Plus to Stealth 2 to Stealth 2 HD.

STEALTH 2

The reconstructed Stealth 2 driver delivers high MOI performance with a heavy 25g tungsten weight positioned on the Inertia Generator. The TSS (TaylorMade Swingweight System) weight is strategically located on the sole to encourage optimal launch and spin properties, delivering complete performance while allowing the driver to be tuned for swingweight in custom. The carbon ring on Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 HD stands out, as it is entirely red and visible at address, unlike Stealth 2 Plus.

TM23 CWD TA105 Stealth 2 LFS JPO 02175 v1

STEALTH 2 HD

Engineers utilized weight savings from the full-body carbon construction to shift the Inertia Generator with its heavy 30g weight closer to the heel in Stealth 2 HD, creating high launch and draw-bias with extreme MOI. Stealth 2 HD is the most stable and forgiving driver in the family.

TM23 CWD TA108 Stealth 2 HD LFS BMW01459 v1
TM23 CWD TA109 Stealth 2 HD Womens LFS BMW00220 v1
STEALTH 2 HD WOMEN’S

Featuring a lighter head weight than the standard HD model and a unique colorway, Stealth 2 HD Women’s driver is designed to enhance clubhead speed. It maintains the high MOI head design for easy, high launch with a draw bias.

This quick read breaks down the 9 things you need to know about the all-new Stealth 2 drivers, with a few mentions of the entire Stealth 2 family. We touch on design changes, performance benefits, personalization and more.

1. THE RING RETURNS

TaylorMade’s patented ring construction first debuted in SIM2 – it’s back again, but with a twist. The OG was made from lightweight aluminum. With Stealth 2, we crafted the ring from a carbon composite material to make it even lighter. The benefit? Greater weight savings, so we can strategically reposition more mass to enhance forgiveness in this 2nd gen Stealth driver. Enjoy!

2. MORE CARBON THAN EVER BEFORE

There’s a lot of carbon in these drivers. I mean, A LOT. In fact, Stealth 2 has approximately 97% more carbon than the original Stealth by volume, while Stealth 2 Plus has 75% more. The reason for the difference? The amount of steel needed to construct the sliding weight track in the Plus model.

This we know for sure: Carbon gives us a lot of benefits. First off, it’s lighter. We’ll continue to beat this drum because its rhythm is true. The lightweight material lets us remove mass from unwanted areas and reposition it to give you (the golfer) better performance – mainly enhanced forgiveness.

3. NEW YEAR, NEW FACE

We’ve even made the face lighter. This new 60X Carbon Twist Face weighs 2g less than the original, which in theory adds to the speed-producing intent of a Carbonwood. From a top-level, the physics works like this: Because carbon is lighter (and less dense) than steel or titanium, golf balls encounter less resistance at impact and retain more energy for faster ball speeds. By making the carbon face even lighter, we’re adding to the performance gains by design.

4. CHANGING A CARBON FACE AIN’T EASY

You may think changing a carbon face is easier than altering steel or titanium. All you have to do is change the formula, and poof a machine spits it out. Right? If only it was that simple. In fact, it is much easier to make a metal face thinner or change its shape versus carbon. With carbon, you must go through a labyrinth of CAD designs, prototypes and testing rigors to make sure the design is exactly right. But hey, golfer, you’re worth it.

5. A FRESH COAT

This year we’ve altered the look of Stealth 2 to have a premium high-gloss crown. This delivers a luxury aesthetic and helps create additional contrast with the red face. For those who still prefer the matte satin crown, the option is available through MyStealth 2.

6. A TON OF OPTIONS TO PERSONALIZE

Speaking of MyStealth 2, there’s no shortage of personalization options this year. Nine different face colors, five different ring colors, two crown options, two weight color options, two top line options and two alignment options. So, have at it. Personalize until your heart is content.

7. FARGIVENESS IS FOR REAL

We get it; we have a history of this sort of thing. 17 More Yards, RocketBallz-ier, Loft Up. There’s more, but I’ll stop there. However, we also have a history of backing up the claims with on-course performance. Expect the same with Fargiveness. Stealth 2 Plus has the highest MOI of any movable weight driver we’ve ever created – with a total MOI that stretches north of 7,400. To golfers, MOI translates to forgiveness. We already knew this face was fast – so, ball goes far. Now, we’ve made it even more forgiving. Far + Forgiving = Fargiveness.

8. THE FAIRWAY IS A MONSTER

The words “game changing” get thrown around a lot. As a copywriter, I admit guilt in this regard. However, the Stealth 2 Plus Fairway is a true game changer. From Tour pros to media and every golfer in between, the people we’ve shared this with have been enamored with its capabilities. By sliding that heavy 50g sole weight to one of three positions, you’ll notice dramatically different performance, ball flight and feel. This is one you’ll have to try.

9. DON’T SLEEP ON HD MODELS

HD (or high draw) designs aren’t just for high handicappers. While the designs do include the highest MOI models within each category (we now have HD available in driver, fairway, Rescue and irons), they boast some intriguing performance benefits that could interest skilled golfers who know what to look for. Don’t shy away from testing the HD models at your fitting session or demo day.

HEAD’s premier tennis ambassador Novak Djokovic has written another remarkable chapter in tennis history, winning a 10th Australian Open singles title to take his career tally of majors to 22.

Djokovic beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets in Sunday’s final in Melbourne to extend his remarkable record at the Australian Open. His last defeat at Melbourne Park was against Hyeon Chung in the fourth round in 2018 – since then he has won the titles in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

Djokovic played remarkably well at the Grand Slam he considers his ‘home major’. And he admitted to having added determination this year after missing the chance to compete in 2022 after his Australian visa was revoked. “There is something extra this year,” he said, “because of various reasons, including what happened last year, I really wanted to do well.”

For years Djokovic trailed Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the number of Grand Slam singles titles won, but he has now equalled Nadal’s record of 22 – and is two ahead of Federer’s 20 – and many tennis observers believe he will pull ahead of Nadal if he stays healthy throughout 2023. His Australian victories this month in Adelaide and Melbourne gives him 93 tour-level titles, putting him within striking distance of Jimmy Connors’ record of 109.

“Novak continues to rewrite the record books,” said Ottmar Barbian, executive vice-president of HEAD’s racquet sports division. “The modern form of tennis will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year, and we are immensely proud that arguably the greatest player in that history has played with HEAD racquets since he was a junior. We look forward to his 23rd major title, hopefully sometime this year.”

Djokovic, 35, endorses HEAD’s Speed range of racquets.

The evolution of driver materials has reached a new plateau with TaylorMade’s family of Stealth Carbonwood™ drivers. The journey to this point began more than 20 years ago, as engineers pushed the limits of materials starting with steel and moving into titanium. In this era, we’ve reached the pinnacle of performance with titanium faced drivers – effectively maxing out results in terms of distance, ball speed and forgiveness.

Carbon allows engineers to unlock a new frontier of driver performance, and it starts with the 60X Carbon Twist Face. Overall, it is 40% lighter than an equivalent titanium face, while also being 11% larger than SIM2 and SIM2 Max drivers and nearly 20% larger than 2020 SIM driver. Sixty layers of carbon fiber are systematically arranged to optimize energy transfer to deliver fast ball speeds over a large area for distance and forgiveness.

Michelle Penney, our very own expert product engineer, breaks down precisely how 60X Carbon Twist Face provides better energy transfer.

“Upon impact, a golf ball both compresses and propels forward off the face. The lighter the face, the less energy is lost to ball compression – leaving more energy to be applied to ball propulsion or ball speed. This is what we mean by a more efficient energy transfer, and this is what separates Stealth from any driver we’ve ever made and any current driver on the market right now.”

– MICHELLE PENNEY, PRODUCT ENGINEER, TAYLORMADE GOLF

To make this work, a special nanotexture cover is needed to enclose the face. The polyurethane cast is used to fine tune launch and spin to optimize total distance regardless of playing conditions. Without it, the driver face would lack the texture and scorelines needed to produce the ideal friction properties at impact.

A thin nanotexture cover provides the needed texture and scorelines to produce optimal launch and spin in all conditions, while also providing an added layer of durability.

The advanced aerodynamic characteristics that powered SIM and SIM2 remain in the Stealth lineup. An Asymmetric Inertia Generator creates a slippery-fast head shape that aids in swing speed generation on the downswing. The sole is strategically angled to allow better airflow across the bottom of the club as it approaches impact. A heavy rear weight increases MOI for enhanced forgiveness.

Sliding Weight Track returns and is exclusive to the Stealth Plus model, providing the ability to optimize ball flight and trajectory for individual swings – promoting a draw- or fade-bias of up to +/- 20 yards.

Stealth HD has an internal heel weight that intrinsically promotes a draw and helps golfers who struggle with a miss to the right.

The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket remains as a foundational technology of TaylorMade drivers and plays a prevalent role in all three Stealth drivers. It’s designed to maximize ball speeds and produce additional forgiveness on low-face strikes.

We hope you enjoyed our dive into the technology that powers the all-new Stealth family of Carbonwoods. If you have questions, reach out to us on Twitter or Instagram at @TaylorMadeGolf.

Because of weight savings from the 60X Carbon Twist Face, engineers were able to incorporate the use of a 10g sliding weight track designed to help golfers control shot shape by shifting mass on the sole to create desired ball flight. Stealth Plus is designed to be the lowest spinning driver in the family.

Stealth maintains the same core technologies as Stealth Plus with an increased focus on MOI for enhanced forgiveness. Foregoing the Sliding Weight Track provides additional weight savings and allowed engineers to reposition mass lower and deeper in the head for an 15% increase in MOI compared to the Plus model.

Often, standard draw bias designs promote a right-to-left ball flight at the expense of forgiveness. By utilising the weight savings from the 60X Carbon Twist Face and shifting the Inertia Generator closer to the heel, we’re able to maintain draw-bias while creating the highest MOI in the Stealth family of drivers. Using a High Draw design, this driver is engineered to minimise the slice and maximise forgiveness.

In 2014, Scottie Scheffler won the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley just 15 miles from Augusta. It’s arguably the most prestigious junior tournament in all of golf, and for his efforts he was rewarded a yellow jacket. This week, he dons a jacket of a different color.

The 25-year-old Texan captured the 2022 Masters in dominating fashion – capping off a meteoric rise to World No. 1 with victories in four of his last six starts and his first major. He displayed his championship pedigree from the start, turning in rounds in the 60s on the first two days of competition – featuring a mindboggling 67 on Friday in challenging conditions that saw much of the field move the opposite direction. He headed into the weekend with a five shot lead.

Cold weather rolled in on Saturday, but it was no match for the hottest player on the planet. Scheffler turned in yet another under-par round (71) and built a three-shot lead headed to the final day. On Sunday, he shook off a shaky start by holing a chip for birdie on the third hole. It was an improbable shot, but it shed light on Scheffler’s deft touch and clutch short game.

Scheffler’s ascent is undeniably unique: in a span of 56 days, Scheffler went from winless on the PGA Tour to World No. 1 and a major champion. He is sporting a scoring average of 69.45 since the beginning of 2022, no small feat after facing a series of tough courses and one of the most difficult stretches on the schedule.

Getty Images 1390719883

He entered Augusta with six straight top-20 finishes in major championships, and leaves making it seven straight with a cumulative score to par of 36-under in the majors. That’s the best of any player in that span. Scheffler is also one of just three players averaging 4 birdies or more per round in majors since the beginning of 2018 (Morikawa is one of the other two).

While Scottie Too Hottie (think that nickname with stick?) was the story of the week, Team TaylorMade delivered a strong overall performance. It was a 1-2 finish with Scottie and Rory McIlroy claiming the top spots while Collin Morikawa finished 5th. Paired together, Collin and Rory surged up the leaderboard with rounds of 64 and 67, respectively. Rory’s effort ties the lowest final round in Masters’ history. The duo made matching eagles on the par-5 13th and then went shot for shot holing out from the same bunker on the 18th for twin birdies. Rory climbed to 7-under and placed some added pressure on the finish.

Rory and Collin embrace after holing on from the bunker on 18 to finish second and third, respectively.

Then there’s the fact that Tiger Woods was able to walk 72 holes on one of the must undulating courses in all competitive golf. An astonishing accomplishment in own right considering his physical state just a year ago. The golfing world was inspired by his return, and an under-par showing in the opening round gives us something to look forward to. Dustin Johnson, Tommy Fleetwood and Harry Higgs all finished inside the top 15.
