SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER MAKES HISTORY AT THE PLAYERS WITH QI10 DRIVER AND SPIDER TOUR X PUTTER
Scottie Scheffler erased a five-shot final round deficit behind a bogey-free 64 to become the first repeat winner in the 50-year history of THE PLAYERS. Scheffler’s magical round with Qi10 driver and Spider Tour X putter tied the largest final round comeback in PLAYERS history.
The win comes one week after Scheffler’s second title at Bay Hill. In the two wins, Scheffler went a combined 35-under par.
Take a look at these mind-blowing stats:
- First repeat champion in the 50-year history of THE PLAYERS
- Ties largest final round comeback to win in PLAYERS history (5 shots)
- Ties lowest final round (64) by a PLAYERS Champion
- Best score to par (-20) by a defending PLAYERS Champion by 10 shots
- First player to win THE PLAYERS the week after winning another PGA TOUR event since 2001 (Tiger Woods)
- First player to successfully defend any other PGA TOUR title the week after winning a tournament since 2007 (Tiger Woods)
- His bogey free last 31 holes is the longest streak to end a PLAYERS Championship victory
- Eighth PGA TOUR win in last three seasons is three more than any other player in that span
It was another clinic of golf put on by Scottie, who as the stats above told us, is truly creeping into Tiger territory in terms of statistical and win dominance.
Scheffler finished the week ranked 1st in Strokes Gained: Total (17.126), 1st in SG: Off the Tee (6.429), and T1 in Driving Accuracy hitting 80.36% of fairways. He was also Top 10 in Greens in Regulation (T3), SG: Around the Green (6th), SG: Approach the Green (7th), Scrambling (8th) and Sand Saves (T10).
In the final round, Scheffler finished T1 in SG: Total (7.096), T1 in Driving Accuracy (12-14), T1 in Scrambling (4-4), 2nd in SG: Off the Tee (2.576), 5th in SG: Approach to Green (2.985), T5 Putts per GIR (1.50), T7 Total Putts (25) and T7 Greens in Regulation (14-18).

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Despite being just one day removed from winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Scottie went back to work right away at TPC Sawgrass ahead of THE PLAYERS to reset both mentally and physically. Scheffler worked hard in practice rounds this week at TPC Sawgrass with TaylorMade Tour Rep Adrian Rietveld to reset after the thrilling win at Bay Hill and fully dial in yardages and ball speeds.
He practiced producing shots off the tee with various trajectories ranging from an apex of 118-feet all the way down to 67-feet. Scheffler’s Qi10 8.0° driver is set up to give him full confidence to hit his patented fade off the tee and eliminate the left side of the golf course.
His three different on course shots with driver are based on hole set up and wind direction with featured numbers of:
HIGH TEE SHOT
- Apex: 118-feet
- Launch Angle: 11.5°
- Ball Speed: 177.1 MPH
- Spin Rate: 2373 RPM
- Carry: 305-yards
STOCK TEE SHOT
- Apex: 92-feet
- Launch Angle: 9.1°
- Ball Speed: 175.5 MPH
- Spin Rate: 2342 RPM
- Carry: 295-yards
LOW TEE SHOT
- Apex: 67-feet
- Launch Angle: 6.0°
- Ball Speed: 176.6 MPH
- Spin Rate: 2512
- Carry: 283-yards
That work paid off to perfection in the final round as Scottie found the fairway on each of his last eight tee shots, including driving the green on 12:

SCOTTIE + SPIDER TOUR X = WINS
Scheffler now has played his Spider Tour X in a total of two starts and has won both. In a press conference earlier in the week, Scheffler said that in the past he had struggled with lining up the ball in the middle of the face and the Spider Tour X has made his alignment simpler. His Spider Tour X features True Path alignment and a full sight line.
“This Spider putter is really easy for me to line up. I don’t have to use the line on the ball. I line the putter up really well, and I line up in the middle of the face, and pretty much as simple as that. Kind of gives me just a really good visual.”
