Jannik Sinner has strengthened his position as one of the all-time greats of tennis by defending his
Wimbledon title. The 24-year-old Italian beat the his fellow HEAD ambassador Alexander Zverev in
Sunday’s final on the grass of the All England Club in London.
The title amounts to a superb comeback by Sinner after he lost in the second round of the French
Open in hot weather. In an unusually hot London, Sinner negotiated a challenging path to the final,
which included a five-set victory in the first round, and stopping another HEAD player Novak Djokovic
in the semi-finals.
It means Sinner has now won five Grand Slam titles across three of the majors.
He is by far the most successful Italian player – man or woman – in the history of tennis.
Ottmar Barbian, executive vice-president of HEAD’s racquet sports division, said, “We are so proud
of Jannik, both as a member of the HEAD family, and most importantly because he is a great
example to any youngster. He is turning into one of the all-time greats of the sport.”
