9 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STEALTH 2

This quick read breaks down the 9 things you need to know about the all-new Stealth 2 drivers, with a few mentions of the entire Stealth 2 family. We touch on design changes, performance benefits, personalization and more.

1. THE RING RETURNS

TaylorMade’s patented ring construction first debuted in SIM2 – it’s back again, but with a twist. The OG was made from lightweight aluminum. With Stealth 2, we crafted the ring from a carbon composite material to make it even lighter. The benefit? Greater weight savings, so we can strategically reposition more mass to enhance forgiveness in this 2nd gen Stealth driver. Enjoy!

2. MORE CARBON THAN EVER BEFORE

There’s a lot of carbon in these drivers. I mean, A LOT. In fact, Stealth 2 has approximately 97% more carbon than the original Stealth by volume, while Stealth 2 Plus has 75% more. The reason for the difference? The amount of steel needed to construct the sliding weight track in the Plus model.

This we know for sure: Carbon gives us a lot of benefits. First off, it’s lighter. We’ll continue to beat this drum because its rhythm is true. The lightweight material lets us remove mass from unwanted areas and reposition it to give you (the golfer) better performance – mainly enhanced forgiveness.

3. NEW YEAR, NEW FACE

We’ve even made the face lighter. This new 60X Carbon Twist Face weighs 2g less than the original, which in theory adds to the speed-producing intent of a Carbonwood. From a top-level, the physics works like this: Because carbon is lighter (and less dense) than steel or titanium, golf balls encounter less resistance at impact and retain more energy for faster ball speeds. By making the carbon face even lighter, we’re adding to the performance gains by design.

4. CHANGING A CARBON FACE AIN’T EASY

You may think changing a carbon face is easier than altering steel or titanium. All you have to do is change the formula, and poof a machine spits it out. Right? If only it was that simple. In fact, it is much easier to make a metal face thinner or change its shape versus carbon. With carbon, you must go through a labyrinth of CAD designs, prototypes and testing rigors to make sure the design is exactly right. But hey, golfer, you’re worth it.

5. A FRESH COAT

This year we’ve altered the look of Stealth 2 to have a premium high-gloss crown. This delivers a luxury aesthetic and helps create additional contrast with the red face. For those who still prefer the matte satin crown, the option is available through MyStealth 2.

6. A TON OF OPTIONS TO PERSONALIZE

Speaking of MyStealth 2, there’s no shortage of personalization options this year. Nine different face colors, five different ring colors, two crown options, two weight color options, two top line options and two alignment options. So, have at it. Personalize until your heart is content.

7. FARGIVENESS IS FOR REAL

We get it; we have a history of this sort of thing. 17 More Yards, RocketBallz-ier, Loft Up. There’s more, but I’ll stop there. However, we also have a history of backing up the claims with on-course performance. Expect the same with Fargiveness. Stealth 2 Plus has the highest MOI of any movable weight driver we’ve ever created – with a total MOI that stretches north of 7,400. To golfers, MOI translates to forgiveness. We already knew this face was fast – so, ball goes far. Now, we’ve made it even more forgiving. Far + Forgiving = Fargiveness.

8. THE FAIRWAY IS A MONSTER

The words “game changing” get thrown around a lot. As a copywriter, I admit guilt in this regard. However, the Stealth 2 Plus Fairway is a true game changer. From Tour pros to media and every golfer in between, the people we’ve shared this with have been enamored with its capabilities. By sliding that heavy 50g sole weight to one of three positions, you’ll notice dramatically different performance, ball flight and feel. This is one you’ll have to try.

9. DON’T SLEEP ON HD MODELS

HD (or high draw) designs aren’t just for high handicappers. While the designs do include the highest MOI models within each category (we now have HD available in driver, fairway, Rescue and irons), they boast some intriguing performance benefits that could interest skilled golfers who know what to look for. Don’t shy away from testing the HD models at your fitting session or demo day.
